My greatest fear is that medical people are going to keep me in this world beyond the time it will be natural for me to go to the next level in the game of life.

I go to a retirement center where my sister now lives 3-4 times a week and it makes me sick to my stomach. It is clean, well kept and the staff could not be better, but it is still a prison. And 50% of the people there are vegetables. My fear that I might end up there is real. I do have a "do not resuscitate" order and can only pray it is honored.

The maturation process does not frighten me at all . I feel wonderful about the emotional maturation I have gained as I aged.

It is the physical deterioration ( over ripe.... overly mature fruit is not usable ) that comes with age that bothers me. This not maturation.

I am not a fearful person. I take all the steps I can to stay as healthy as I can.

My greatest fears have always been ending up poor and living on the street - becoming estranged from my kids - living and dying alone on a street corner. Its no joke, because this is Canada's Assistance housing program for the elderly and disabled who arent wealthy. Its huge reality for a lot of us.

If you can afford to pay upwards of $2500 a month for housing you have it made in the shade, right down to daily massages.

I don't know if its fear more than dread. I hope I live a healthy lifestyle without too many things falling apart! I still want to be able to hear, see and walk as I age but as we know, life is never fair sometimes.

The only power I have is to get maintenance check ups and hope I beat the odds. Well, most of them anyway.

My greatest fear is that I will be very old and helpless. I would make sure that I would never be in that position. Hopefully the laws will change someday and we will have more options about extending or ending our own life.

My greatest fear is running out of money before I die. I want it all to come out even if possible. I have been trying not to waste money on frivolous purchases. If I don't buy it, I won't have to find a place for it. Thinking about becoming a Wal-Mart greeter.

That I may not be able to take care of myself in my last years and may have to depend on others and the pain, suffering and indignity that I may have to go through before death finally claims me. What do I do about it? Fervently pray that death becomes a swift process for me, may be a sudden massive heart attack?

I think it will be sad for my grandsons to see me decline. My oldest already know I can no longer pick him up and is asking about being old. I am just honest with him and tell him, you change on the outside , but the love remains.

Most young people think they are invincible. You realize you are only here on this earth for a period of time. So you learn to make the most of your time and life.
