I own a freshwater aquarium and I am trying to breed a neon tetra. How can you tell the difference from a male and a female neon tetra. It would also be great to throw in some tips on how to breed neon tetra.

The females are larger, less colorful and heavier bodied than the males. it's not really easy to tell a male or female in a tank by itself, but easy to pick out males and females from a large group.

As for breeding them, I'll give you a link to a great site for some tips:

The females have somewhat of a bent blue line and the males have a straighter blue line. The females are also deeper - bodied and plumper than males.
