Truthfully, if you had special powers, would you use them for good?

And dont say you would just so ppl will think more of you, just tell the truth. Whether you would use them in order to wrongly get what you want, use them to help/save people/community, or simply not use them at all (other ideas are welcome) plz try to give a reason. thx

Truthfully? (*sighs*) Hoo boy....

Ahh, what the hell....people think I'm crazy anyway, and I know I'm not (totally) Mr. Popular around here (though I do have some fans and stuff, thanks...).

It's just too early to tell. What do I mean by this?

I really don't know *what all* the special thing *does* yet is what I mean. So far, I've had four total incidents where I've *deliberately* focused my anger and irritation over something I see on a video monitor....and had the monitor within my immediate field of vision end up with *problems*, of an interference sort. It's happened with cathode ray tubes (my TV at home) as well as with LCD flat-panel displays (the advert/spam monitors at the checkout lanes at my local grocery store). The video starts to get static and cut out, and then the audio follows shortly after....and yes, things have gone back to normal when I break eye contact.

So....so far I'm not sure what this means. I know it takes a fair bit of effort and concentration to get a fairly small result so far. I have to be fairly annoyed and angry over something to even have the nerve to do this, especially out in public in the check-out lane at Meijer. But yeah, it seems like whatever this "thing" is, so far it leans towards the destructive and/or annoying.

So I'm not sure it *can* be used for "good purposes" even though it does let me vent some frustration directly out on spam. ^_^ And yeah, this may be a good thing as I do have a wee bit of a depression problem. And NO, that does NOT mean I hallucinate thank you very much! I saw what I saw.

And truthfully, in my current state I doubt I have the personal energy to manage much more than that, much more than a bit of static on a screen.

So.....until I get my life more together, I'd be inclined, seriously, to keep a lid on this sort of thing, and save it for better days. People already give me hassles enough over my having depression.....I don't need them thinking I'm psychotic too. o_o (and yes, my counselor knows of this, so it isn't like it's some big secret...if people ask I'll tell. If people are there with me I'll demonstrate it if I can.)

It's a shame too. I want to do more and be more helpful. And really, when I was younger I would have *killed* to have any sort of super-power no matter how minor. But...right now, what I have going is just not strong enough to really be useful, and I have too much crap going on to really give this "thing" the attention it deserves.

I would probably use them to break necks in moments of anger.Those moments seem to come more often these days. The reason that I think that I would do that is because I have seen people do so many stupid and criminal things. I can really lose it at times. The World would not be a better place,I would just be able to toast a few punks and get away with it. When the cops came after me,I would light them up next. I have seen them do criminal acts too.

I would help the world, and also myself. A superhero needs an income the same as everyone else, right? But i'm the type that already goes around helping people when I can...I would just be able to do it in a super way =)
I'm not sure if I would use them more for good, or more for my own benifit...I think it depends what my power is.

Really good question, but I am afraid my answer will probably upset many. We all have special powers right now, and our most special power is used to see that we, indeed, do posses them. Language is one of the special powers that we, as humans, have, but you do not see many folks using it as if it were a powerful tool. In your case, this question shows that you are seeing language as a very powerful tool and attempting to use it as the same.
If there are, really, any other special powers that humans, like you and I, could use to influence the world for the better or worse, wouldn't we have to use language and meaning just to tell ourself that we even had this power?

Language is an incredible tool. You create your self with it, you create others with it, you recognize god with it; you question your self with it. You can influence others for the better or worse, without even laying a hand on them.
Perhaps most people use this tool to wish for a more powerful tool because, secretly, they just do not have the knobs to be able to use the most powerful tool of them all, which is language.

I think after I got even with a few people from my past that on the whole I would try to be as fair and just as I could be.....but remember some peoples very thought of it not being a punishment merited out by a judge and jury is not right so that would upset at least some of the people out there.

But yes I would like to think that for the most part I would use them for good.......or at least my perception of good.

If I had special powers I would be thinking I'm a little nuts. Then I would probably test them; all for selfish reasons mine you. Then I would try to find a "nitch" where I could use them for healing purposes, by this I mean I wouldn't be dressing up to save the day!

Why do you think it is wrong for me to get what I want?

Anyway, I'd try to use them for the benefit of humankind, but a lot of the time I'd just use them for fun, or to piss people off! But I'm pretty sure I wouldn't do anything really evil with them.

Why would I suddenly change the basis of who I am if I got special powers? Of course I would use them for good.
