I'm sure all people have encountered racism in one form or another.

Racism is based on a theory or opinion that a certain race or races of people, usually, ones own, are superior to others because of certain inborn characteristics. This seems to lead into a predisposed opinion, judgment, preference, or conception formed without knowing or examining the facts, hence, revealing it's ugly head in the form of prejudice

I don't know how many people really know what racism is but, I have a very simple definition that i think sums it up.

Racism - The fear of that which is different from you

I believe that all human beings on this planet are born without racism but, from the second that we reach society and culture, we are shown what makes us a like and hence what makes us different. From that point on, we will innately find ways to alienate others that are not like us and eventually grow to fear, dislike, and even hate others for not being like 'us'. Unless a person takes a conscious and active role against racism, you will simply revert back to what your culture has taught you: RACISM. This passive aggressive cycle is why racism is still alive around the world today. Something as simple as a smile is all it takes to fight racism in your own way.

Ethnocentrism is the belief that your ethnicity is the best one that there is but, unlike Nazi Germany (which was Racist) you don't necessarily look down upon other races. . .

So in an instance, one can be ethnocentric and racist but, just because someone is racist does not make them ethnocentric. . .Got it?

That is just my opinion. . .Good Luck xoxox

first the answer is every one thinks they know and now the definition. intentionally harming someone because of there race. i think your allowed to not like people of a race but as long as your fair to them its ok. some people are just afraid of other races but in todays world most people would consider you racist for having a phobia of other races or even saying a racial joke.my point is that once you have to give up your way of thinking or acting to please others you fall victim to something much worse than racism. descrimination for having an opinion and that goes against everything this country is based on and if you dont agree with me ur a communist wich is not always a bad thing as long as that is what you belive and you dont just do it to be cool but i still don't like you
