I believe that some are born with a genetic trait that gives them homosexual feelings. I believe this percentage to be fairly small.
America, by far, has the highest percent of homosexuals when compared to the rest of the world. This shows that there is also a choice. Some people are confused, have had bad exeriences and abuse, some have been overmothered, some are into shock value, some are curious and some are just highly impressionable.
I'm not saying I'm right or wrong but that is my view on the subject. There isn't proof that it's one way or the other. People need to remember that instead of saying that everything is fact instead of opinion.

I believe our behaviors are really always choices and are not the consequences of genetic determinism. Human behavior is always complex and homosexuals come from a variety of genetic and environmental backgrounds that contribute to the behavior. Ultimately each person must choose to follow a desire or resist it, depending on personal preference and choice. The desire itself I don't see as being a choice. Some people are just different and would not be able to be heterosexual if they tried. Other people could of course choose to commit gay acts just to pursue some form of fulfillment or curiosity. Basically I think behavior is complex, but I do not accept the concept that we are born that way so just live it out. We are not a victim of our genes.

First of all , if It is my opinion that young people, even young animals have curiosity and sexual urges, desires and fantasies about sex. the natural inclination is to focus your feelings etc. upon those closest to you. I have seen bucks in the woods faining sex on another buck . I have seen puppies humping other pups even before there eyes were open.
The sex drive is one of the strongest urges on earth( whew how many people are there now !)
We cannot choose who we are but we can choose what we do about it .
We have feelings , tastes. preferences inclinations and , urges. We can't always help having them. but be can make good or improper choices about how we act upon them.
I guess what I'm saying is that you can demonstrate a little class and , some moral standards by the way you live out who you are .

Let's be accurate with our semantics here.
Homosexuality is literally defined as same sex attraction. It has nothing to do with the behavior. The fact that I have sex with women doesn't make me heterosexual. The fact that I'm sexually attracted to women, however, does. If sexual orientation had anything to do with behavior, virgins would not be able to identify as anything in terms of sexual orientation.
Given this basic information that so many people apparently do not understand...
Homosexuality, just like heterosexuality, is not a choice.
As for the behavior... homosexual sex, if practiced safely between consensual adults, harms no one. Unless you think the whole world should abide by the laws of your personal religion's sacred texts, you don't really have a way of convincing anybody that homosexual sex is wrong. You're preaching to a crowd that has already made up their mind that they don't believe in your archaic laws.

Hi. I am a 49 year old lesbian who was straight for the first 5 years before discovering where I belonged. After 30 years of being gay, living in gay communities, attending Gay pride fairs all across the state and generally getting know thousands of gay sisters and brothers I can honestly say that I have seen as ,many different reasons as there are people. I believe the bottom line is;
Who's business is it who sleeps with who once you're an adult? Who gets to say Love is only Love according to MY beliefs?
The physical acts themselves have been noted in ALL warm blooded mammals at about 10% of the population, so don't give me the "Sin against God and Nature. " If you believe in God, then God IS nature. This is ONLY a question of who gets to judge who.

I think it's ultimately a choice.
I'm married, have only dated men my whole life and have only wanted to be with a man. Yet I've had fantasies of being with a woman. Lesbian porn turns me on. Does that mean that I'm going to leave my husband one day for another women? I don't think so. I easily could have gotten into a homosexual relationship before I was married and chose not to. I don't feel like I'm longing for that experience either.
I think human beings are far more impressionable than we think.

I believe it is totally genetic! Depends upon the homonal levels of probably both mother and father--a higher estrogen level will produce a gay orientation in males--a higher testosterone level--a Lesbian orientation in females. I strongly believe this is not a choice!! It IS societies' choice as to how we TREAT DIFFERENCES of all kinds!!!!

A behavior that can or cannot be acted on is a choice.
So the homo-sexual act is always a choice.
Now what sexually excites you may not be choice. I like women that are slender, my own age, and big boobs are more or less meaningless to me. Also, I never once in my life looked at another man's butt and thought, gee I'd like to bend that over. So what attracts me is not so much of a choice.

No, I don't believe homosexuality is a choice. Would a straight person want to do anything homosexual? Why would a person chose to be homosexual if that means being hated by all their love ones and being ridiculed by others.
I believe it is like being shy, naturally happy or having tempers problems. No one choose those things did they?
