Sirrah, it is possible. As far as I know, there is one professional baseball player that is Filipino.
Benny Agbayani (spelling might be off)
He played for the NY Mets when they went to the World Series a few years ago. He followed Manager Bobby Valentine to Japan and has been playing there since 2003. That year, their team, the Chiba Lotte Marines, won the Japan Series.
I think all it will take is a famous Filipino star to make it more popular in the Philippines. It can happen. The weather is definately baseball weather and it isn't an expensive sport. They just need some people to play!!

Baseball can have the same popularity in the Philippines that basketball or billiards enjoy, like Adam said maybe it just needs a Pinoy star to propel the sport to greater heights (similar to what Fernando Valenzuela did). Potentially we have a better chance of producing world-class players in baseball than in basketball, but we need strong backing from both public and private sectors to make that a reality.

It has, and it hasnt. Unclear?
It has, to some extent. Mostly in the provinces. That is why our Little League consists mainly of boys from the provinces. The reason : it has not produced stars. Like Pacman for boxing, And our great billiards players who continue to collect championships around the world.
It hasn't, because it has not taken the country by storm like basketball, boxing, and billiards have. One time when we won, we were even exposed for having sent kids beyond the age limit, or kids froma different school. The kids did not do these - - the older folks did. Maybe that is why the impetus is not there. Derailed.

Teams from the Visayas and Mindanao provinces usually represent our country in the Little League. Children in these provinces have better opportunity in playing baseball than children in the Luzon provinces because of one important ingredient. The Playing field.
In the southern provinces, schools have wider fields that can accommodate baseball than schools in the Metros. Aside from that, open fields outside schools can also become venues for this game. Hope the local government will step up and support this game. Lack of funding for this sport in the provinces hinders its growth. If someday the RP Little League representative becomes champion again (CLEAN WIN and WITHOUT OVER-AGED PLAYERS) in the U.S. popularity of this sport will rise again. And someday a Full Blooded Filipino will become a star in the Major League.

Nope, it won't be popular even if you bring Barry Bond to the Philippines for a tour.
Filipinos are already adopted to Basketball and Billiard.
Beside you need a big field to play baseball and expensive equipment, unlike basketball you only need a ball and a ring attached to a coconut tree.
wink-wink, penguin can slam a basketball pretty hard to the rim.

nena plays beisbol...i'm a shortstop...i make patid (trip) the runners...hahaha
pinoy kids play baseball well coz they have the mental aptitude for it but the local little leagues are fund-strapped to really elevate the sport to competitive level. more than the equipment, there's the travel costs, daily allowance, etc. if they have to compete elsewhere.
pero sana kahit sa kalye lang basta maglaro lang sila. but i wish more kids will play baseball even if just in the neighborhood streets (or any open areas).

The more popular sports are Basketball, Boxing, Billiards, Badminton & Bowling. Yes the 5 Bs. But martial arts are also popular. Among them karate, taekwondo, arnis/eskrima, wushu, kung fu, jeetkondo, mixed martial arts, etc. Although you can probably see gyms offering most of the martial arts of the world.

I think in due time it will surely take off.
yes you don't need to be tall but you better have a good eye and hands coordination to be successfully in baseball, and being able to run fast is a plus too.
I just hope that our politician will support more and give budgets for the community to organized more sports for kids and adults.

Doubtful. Baseball doesn't seem to be a very popular game, compared with soccer and cricket.
