The question should be:

Do your pets allow you to sit on the furniture? Do your pets allow you to sleep with them?

They have me so trained! All my dogs have trained me.

The Dog Whisperer would not be happy with my behavior -- maybe I should call him.

Nice to see you again.

My parents allow all seven of our dogs on the furniture. I don't see much of a problem in it, as they are not that large (they're Doxies) and they've never hurt the furniture or anything. They do draw the line however on letting the pets to sleep in their bed however, except for in the morning after they are up. And even then, only one of the dogs can make it into the bed on its own. But I do think if we had large dogs, my parents would probably not let them onto the furniture just to eliminate having a 100 pound dog trying to sit on your lap.

We have always had retrievers, and we've never allowed them to sleep on furniture or on the bed with us. We do know plenty of folks who have made a different choice. Personally I would not allow a dog to sleep on the bed, no matter what the size. Too much confusion about who is boss.

Cats are another matter since they can't be trained. We had one we used to refer to as "the chaperone".

Absolutely.

They go on my couches and they sleep with me on my bed.

However, I make it a point to make sure they know "Off" to avoid them thinking that the couch/bed is theirs.

There are two pieces of furniture my dogs aren't allowed to jump on just because I have certain family members with allergies that come over every now and again and who would rather sit outside than on a couch with some dog hair on it.

They also aren't allowed up if I'm eating or drinking something on the couch, just because they're bound to make me spill it or get too close for comfort.

My 2 guinea pigs and 2 dogs are allowed on the furniture, but my 3 cats aren't allowed from the accident that happened. They all pull the cushions away from the couch and start chewing on the zipper of it.

I only let my Yorkshire Terrier sleep with me on my bed because my German Pinscher is too big and one time I let him sleep with me, he woke me up by standing all over me, barking in my ear because he heard the TV go on downstairs!

I'm not sure what a plutonically serious answer is, but I can say yes, and sometimes.

my dog is never allowed on my furniture and he slept with me his whole life until I got married and there was no longer room for him in bed. He does however have a doggie pillow that I drag from living room to bedroom everyday so he has something comfy to sit/lay on instead of the hard floor.

We have 5 dogs and 3 of them are small so they are allowed on the furniture. I show my dog, maggy, in 4-H, and
she is my buddy, so she has her own pillow that she sleeps on which is next to my pillow on my bed.

No we do not. we let our dog Aspen out to go potty and then every once in awhile he will run around the house but he isn't aloud because we have too much nice furniture. no i would never let my dog sleep with me. i already have enough dead skin and oil on my sheets from myself. i dont need that dog hair in my bed either. even if your animal doesnt shed the smell of animal is nasty even when they're clean.
