Now im wondering if there is a place he could go or an organization i can contact for him to get help in illinois. Please if you have any info or advice , it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I can only advise you to call your Congressman or Senator and seek an appointment or assistance in how to find out who you should contact & also ask that they help you. Many people do not realize that your elected officials are there to help you and their staff is educated in many different types of help. Do not accept a brushoff from them and if they try, contact the newspapers with the story. In this day and age nobody should be treated like the man you described. God be with you for your kindness and good luck. You can also call Social Services.

If the intention is to keep him in the home, the Salvation Army or Lutheran Social Services may be able to help with an air conditioner. Meals on Wheels brings food to seniors but I do not know if that is available in your area. Your county probably has a Social Services agency who would be more familiar with what is available in your area. I do know that our county has a program to get air conditioners for senior citizens who cannot afford them.

Call the hospital in his area. Request the social services department or the discharge planner department. Explain the situation and see if they can give you some referrals. The township or village hall where he lives should also provide referrals for services in his area.

If he is ill, a physician can OK a nursing home. His Social Security benefit, Medicare and Medicaid will pay for it along with all of his other income or savings. Talk to his doctor about placing him in a home.

a nursing home. They'll take his social security check, and sign him up with medicaid for the balance. No one will ever get a bill for his care outside of that.
