Do you think its better to look towards the future and waste part of your day, look back on the past (or daydream) and waste part of your day, or just keep living the day second by second no looking forward or behind? Would it be good to waste some of your days dwelling on the past (history) to try not to repeat it (as my history teacher once said) ect. Your thoughts are appreciated greatly!

The past is what you know.
The present is what you do.
The future is what you want.

The function of your mind is to:

Use what you know,
To figure out what to do,
To get what you want

The descriptions of people, who don’t look forward or back, do not tend to be complements. (Oblivious, Short sighted, Clueless, Moronic, etc….)

To live in the moment means enjoying the process. If you’re doing the fun stuff, don’t think about the pain it took to get there. If you’re doing the pain, think about the fun the pain is for.

You can take a break. Nothing wrong with an occasional ‘stroll down memory lane' or a little ‘what if'. But the real fun is playtime. The fun is in the now.

So “Gear Up” and that includes your History and Hopes. Lions have claws, Humans have brains. If you notice a teammate playing without one, tell them to…

get their HEAD in the game.

C. All of the above
I think there are days when we all just need to focus on our immediate goals, and just get through another day of work, school, or whatever else one's day might entail.
I think that at some point, we all need to look to the future and set goals for our long term or even short term happiness. If we don't set goals for ourselves that we can work toward and hopefully acheive, then I think we open ourselves up for an unsatisfying end.
We should never live in the past in my opinion, as there is little that we can do to change it. I do believe that we should use the past as a guide in our life. If we regret choices, then we need to learn how to make better choices. If we had a bad result from an action in the past, then we should consider alternative actions for the future.

I think it's ok to reminise about the past. I think it's good to look back from time to time on the good things, and it's ok to think about the bad things from the past from time to time too, but I think it's very important not to "dwell" and to yes.. just live day to day. I think there isnt any point in dwelling on the past because the past is in the past, and youre never going to get it back, so there's no point on dwelling, just moving forward.
However, about the future, I think it's ok to daydream, daydreaming can be good for you! it's healthy! as long as your not spending ALL of your time dwelling on the future, and your just having normal everyday daydreams, that everyone does, I think that is ok.
I live my life day to day.. naturally some things come up once in a while about the past, or the future, but I think it's important not to "dwell"
hope this makes sense and helps you with your answer!

the past and the future are very important,
though you should not dwell on either.
you learn from your mistakes to become a better person.
it doesn't hurt to look back at the past every now and then,
but don't want to spend to much time there.
look forward to the future,
and DO daydream.
imagine the impossible and unexpected.
as we all grow older we tend to stop day dreaming.
the past, present and future are all important.
some maybe more that others.

Live in the now only, as that is what exists. The past does not exist, nor does the future, so to be pre-occupied with either is delusion. I'm not saying you shouldn't learn from the past or plan for the future, just don't obsess over either as it has no baring on the Now. Remember, the future is seeded in the Now. Hope this helps!

One should not "dwell" *on* the past, present or future.

Remember the past, understand it, learn from it--but do not dwell upon it--and use what you learn to live today and plan for the future.

Plan and prepare for the future--but do not dwell upon it, either--"tomorrow" will soon enough become "today". Nor is it a bad thing to dream, for many things we have today were once dreams in the past. And in order to move forward, you must have direction.

Live for today--dwell in it, but not upon it--for you cannot live in the past; it only exists in memories. And you cannot live in the future; it has yet to be. Use what you learned from the past, but be not afraid to make mistakes, for they are what you learn from when "today" becomes "yesterday".

The past is an abstract thought. It already has happened and cannot be held in your hands. The future is also an abstract thought. It hasn't happened yet and cannot be held in your hands.
The present is an infinitely small passing of the future to the past. It is so small a time it cannot be grasped. Everything is only in our heads.

One man told Buddha his finger hurt. Buddha told him it was all in his mind. The man didn't believe him and Buddha told him he could prove it. When asked how he could prove it, Buddha told him to cut off his hand - the finger would no longer cause him any pain.
A man asked Buddha how to escape the summer's mid-day sun - Buddha told the man to jump into a raging fire.
Everything is relative.

Neither dwelling in the past or the future give any benefit in your life. Making your future brighter by using your past as a source of knowledge is that path to a better life.

If you are constantly dragging your past along with you, you will have no future. everyday is an adventure of some kind. live the day and look forward to tomorrow. While it is good to remember the good things in your life, it is best to not try to recreate them. You cannot step back in time, but as I said, if you spend time looking back then you loose time going forward. Embolden yourself with memories of the good times past and use them to help you go forward.

I try to live life with no regrets, defintely do not live in the past, but at the same time learning as I grow. Surround yourself with people who truly care for and there is no need to worry about the future and you can enjoy every present moment for what it's worth.
