It occurs to me that the 27th is the date of the lunar eclipse. What's the money that, the day after, we're flooded with "I told you so" from those people who read the false email, and insist that it's Mars thay saw because it's RED?

Oh. There will be annoyance. That is for sure.

For us, not a big problem because Mars will be visible. But try to convince those who have been promised Mars as big as the Moon.

Might as well try to convince them that their horoscope is wrong.

From where I am, mid-eclipse occurs at Moonset on the 28th (morning twilight) while Mars is still South East, very high (in Taurus), still far from opposition -- otherwise it would be very close to the eclipsed Moon.

Great catch.

That explains all those completely idiotic questions a while ago about "Mars will the size of the moon and visible" business. I have to admit, I could NOT figure out where people were getting their bogus information. Now I get it.
