I must be connected because I have a screen between screen changes that has lots of white wii boxes
New info. I tryed to connect to the forecast and shop channel and instead of connect it says update on the channel screen. It connects then goes to update and actually loads half way this time. Then it gives me the same error. I go to the wii menu and I can now see graphics from both of those channels now. I click on one and it tells me to press the start button and it tells me to go to turn on 24hr connect. I try that and get the same error code again. But why does it always connect but get stuck on the update?

Restart everything. Restart the modem and try to establish a connection again.

I've never setup a Wii before, but typically if an update doesn't complete on a device, it can cause corruption. I would recommend googling for instructions on resetting the Wii back to factory settings (probably holding in a reset button for a few seconds) and then reinstalling the updates until they complete successfully.

updates should not affect the wireless on your wii
to continue your update try to look for a cancel button and restart. Or just disable your connection and restart it again.
If you have anymore problems go to the nintendo website and email nintendo.

Check the connection settings on the wii, make sure they are correct.
