Most 2 cycle engines are 40 to 1 or 50 to 1. I'd go with 50 to 1 to be safe. Check the plug after a while and adjust mixture accordingly. Since this is a 5HP motor, it is unlikely it is for high performance purposes. 50:1 is your best bet.

I actually have a Clymer handbook for 1973-ninety two Johnson outboards and that they are all 50 to a million, maximum outboards are this blend. Depends on the year. The older models used 24:1 mix.
