Most 2 cycle engines are 40 to 1 or 50 to 1. I'd go with 50 to 1 to be safe. Check the plug after a while and adjust mixture accordingly. Since this is a 5HP motor, it is unlikely it is for high performance purposes. 50:1 is your best bet.

I actually have a Clymer handbook for 1973-ninety two Johnson outboards and that they are all 50 to a million, maximum outboards are this blend. My 6hp Johnson of path 50 to a million additionally. pay attention conscious additionally of extreme altitude substitute on your outboard, i'm at 4200 ft sea point yet sail at 6 to 7000 ft so i'm tweaking my carb somewhat if i'm at abode or in another country. good luck
