My laptop is Celeron with 1.3 GHz, the desktop is Pentium 4 with 2.93 GHz. Obviously, the Pentium is better and faster, but is the difference really supposed to be that much? My laptop is so very slow to boot up. It's only one year old, and just recently really being used. I did load Office on it, but the desktop also has it and it moves at a normal/fast speed at 2 years old and used all the time. The Celeron is just so frustrating (if that is the problem), before I spend money to upgrade I need to know if it is worth it. Oh, have good firewalls on both, so the laptop is not infected. I'm sure about that. It has always been slow. Thanks.

OK, a couple of answers already given leads me to another. If the laptop can support the upgrade, which do you think will be cheaper: upgrade or new? I really shouldn't buy another one.............I could, but it would set me back more than I am freely willing to spend right now. Thanks for the help!!

get a new laptop, celerons are a thing of the past now. you need to have an intel core 2 duo processor or something of that equivalent, like the amd turion 64x2 processor.

yes, the pentium 4 2.93ghz IS MUCH FASTER. I personally think the celeron line by intel was one of the worst line of cpu's. Yes, if your motherboard can support it, why not upgrade, you will notice a huge power increase

dont waste the money with the laptop, it isnt worth it, just go to a good used p4. and as for celeron vs p four. the old adage is you get what you pay for. the fours are much more reliable and faster. i like them better and have been working on computers for six years.

Celeron is just slow. Only good at single-task. Get a new lappy with the core2 duo and eventually pump it up to 2GB memory
