I had installed AVG Antivirus some days back..then today I came across comodo Firewall and Antivirus s/w. So I installed the latter. It asked for an option to remove the AVG s/w and I gave the acceptance. But now AVG is not removed and Comodo is installed too. So I guess there is a conflict between the two and my laptop is going too slow.

How do I fix this?? PLZZZ help!

Yes it is a conflict
One way out is this
Restore to before you downloaded comodo

Restoring the Computer to an Earlier Operating State
NOTICE: Before you restore the computer to an earlier operating state, save and close any open files and exit any
open programs. Do not alter, open, or delete any files or programs until the system restoration is complete.
1 Click the Start button, point to All Programs→Accessories→System Tools, and then click System
Restore.
2 Ensure that Restore my computer to an earlier time is selected and click Next.
3 Click a calendar date to which you want to restore your computer.
The Select a Restore Point screen provides a calendar that allows you to see and select restore points.
All calendar dates with available restore points appear in boldface type.
4 Select a restore point and click Next.
If a calendar date has only one restore point, then that restore point is automatically selected. If two or
more restore points are available, click the restore point that you prefer.
5 Click Next.
The Restoration Complete screen appears after System Restore finishes collecting data and then the
computer restarts.
6 After the computer restarts, click OK.
To change the restore point, you can either repeat the steps using a different restore point, or you can
undo the restoration.

I have AVG but have never heard of Comodo. You know you shouldn't have more than one AV program. Off the top, I would suggest removing Comodo and reinstalling AVG. See if you can:
cl Start
Programs

Is Comodo there?
is it followed by an arrow with a submenu?
is there an uninstall there?
If so, uninstall it
Restart

Note: it look like when AVG is uninstalled, it leaves a few marks behind.

There may be another reason why your laptop is slow. Here is my checklist to maintain free RAM:

1. Set wallpaper and screensavers to blank or none — they run continuously in the background and use memory.
-----right-click on the desktop, select Properties
-----click the screensaver tab, on the left where it says "screensaver," select none.
-----click the desktop tab, for background, select none
2. Review your start menu – remove anything you don’t need on a daily basis — load games, etc. on an as-needed basis.
-----click Start, Settings, Taskbar and Start Menu
-----click the Start Menu tab
-----select a program you do not want to load at Startup, then click remove.
-----Caution -- do not touch anything you are not sure of or you will mess up your computer royally.
3. From Internet Explorer, click Tools, Internet Options: delete cookies, delete files (offline), and clear history. (You can also set days to store history to 0.)
----- These actions will clear your computer’s cache. (For a description of cache, go to http://help.yahoo.com/l/ph/yahoo/mail/access/access-27210.html )
4. Run Disk Cleanup, Scandisk, Defrag at least every two weeks (the more frequently they are run, the less time they take).
-----These can be found in Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools.
5. Periodically, click Start, Programs, Run — then type ipconfig renew
(that’s ipconfig space renew).
6. Optional: Speed vs Goodies — in the Control Panel, System, Advanced, Performance, Settings — you can have visual effects or let Windows select the best options. I am using “Best Performance.” Your choice.
These things should increase speed and free up memory as much as possible.

Never install antivirus software over existing av software. You should always do the uninstall of the previous prog before going ahead with the install of the new prog, especially if they do similar things as they do in this case. You can sidestep the situation you're in by remembering to create a 'System Restore' point just before you install or uninstall any software.

WinXP is really good this way; it probably automatically saved a sysrestore point for you to prevent this kind of thing happening. If not, I recommend uninstalling Commodo and AVG. But wait! Make sure you have the install program on your harddisk drive for whichever av prog you want to keep. Now disconnect from the Net by closing off your connection, including your hardware connection by disconnecting the cable from your network card. Make sure WinXP's firewall is activated at this point, so you at least have some protection for your PC if you inadvertently log on the Net again to grab that last download you must have. After creating a manual restore point, go ahead with the installer for the program you've chosen and reconnect your Net cable. You should have a reliable environment now for your PC to run its antivirus program.

The same goes for any new firewall software you want to install in the future. Remember to create that restore point and remove any simiar programs installed on your PC before proceding with a new install.

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser.

you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus. i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar.

firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser.

as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE. download firefox for free, Just have a try:
