I currently don't have Internet Explorer on my PC. I just use Mozilla. Now I downloaded Internet Explorer 7 and when I try to install it it gives an error saying that I already have Internet Explorer installed. But I don't see it anywhere, it doesn't show up on my programs or in the control panel. What shall I do?

Start the Registry Editor by typing regedit from the Run box. Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Active Setup \ Installed Components \ {89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}
and then right-click the “IsInstalled value.” Click Modify. From there, you will change the value from 1 to 0

You don't say what Operating system you have so i'll give you the XP answer...

You need to right click on your Task Bar
Select the properties
Select the "Start Menu" tab
Select the "Customize" option

In there it has "Show on Start Menu"
next to the internet option change it from Firefox to Internet Explorer.

Select OK, the Apply and OK.

This will now show Internet Explorer in you Start Menu.

You might also try doing a Search from the Start menu for the executable which is IEXPLORE.EXE.

Sometimes Windows updates get hosed like any other software. One program that can help in these situations is Dial-a-Fix. I've had it fix some IE issues before. You can see more details in the link below.

Go to My computer, then go to your local drive, probably c:, then look under program files. Scroll down and see if IE7 is in their. Click on the IE icon and see if it works. If it works, right click the icon and create a shortcut on your desktop. You can add it elsewhere later.
