I would look into such towns as Chinook, Chester, Casade, Fort Benton all of these towns are fairly small and most are near a larger town/city were you can find the big city essentials and most are the kind of town that everyone still looks out for each other. the schools are great since they have smaller class sizes and you can still find enthusiastic sports and extra curricular teams that are great for children

Use this map to find information on specific Montana cities: http://visitmt.com/tripplanner/wheretogo/destinations.asp Place that you could get a 3 bedroom for under 100K would include Billings, Great Falls, Helena, and Butte. Out of the price range would be Bozeman, Missoula, and Kalispell.

I've only spent a little time in Montana. Speaking as a generalization, you probably can do OK on real estate in many cities in Montana. The pricey places probably have fabulous views, such as Flathead Lake in Montana (where Laker coach Phil Jackson summers). And crime probably isn't that much of a problem in many places. as long as the economy is OK.

I would guess that Helena has a pretty strong economic base because of state government employees. so there has to be some good sections in that area.

Bellingham, WA!!!! abode of Western Washington college, and approximately ninety miles from Seattle and approximately an hour from Vancouver, BC. no longer in the south, sorry, yet great paintings and song scene, friendly human beings, on the water yet on the edge of the mountains. this is totally eco-friendly, the two in terms of our environment and how of existence. I omit it and prefer to bypass returned!
