You mean besides the fact that they're our strongest ally in that part of the world?

The Israelis don't take "stuff" off anybody. It's an entire culture thing. Every able-bodied adult person has served in the military.

More countries would do well to emulate them.

FYI, the Jews fled Nazi Germany and were stranded on a ship and no country would permit them to make port. The United Nations assigned the area surrounding Jerusalem as a home for the Jews. The Palestinians weren't too keen on it, and they still aren't. That's been 60 years, now.

They began as refugees, and have become very powerful through sheer determination and wits.

Isreal is good for the US. It keeps the oil-rich Middle East smouldering. Many see it as just another state of America.
Its expensive to maintain. But the dividends are huge....i.e. oil.

We were asked to help Israel around 1949-50 if memory serves me. Israel was about to be forced into the seas by the Arabian countries because they hated Jews. Isreal asked the u.s time and time again for support before we finally said yes. We decided to help because we believed in freedom for all religions and we love to help the under dog.

We support Israel because we were founded on Christian values, and our founding fathers thought that we would remain a Christian nation and that we would use the Bible as a book to teach from. Our Christian values come from Jesus who was from Israel and our Bible tells that we are to help Israel in every way we can - bless Israel, and we will be blessed - thus the same as what our founding fathers intended.
What does Israel do for us? Does it matter, really? When God tells us to do something, we should be doing it. Israel does not owe us in the sense of providing something for our well being, but rather we owe Israel since they are the chosen people of God. When we accept Jesus as Savior, then we are adopted into His Family, and that means that we get to share in God's blessings just as His Chosen People.
