First calculate the number of moles of Nitrogen gas (N2) by dividing the number of grams by the gram molecular mass:

56 g / 28 g/mol = 2.0 moles

Then find the number of molecules of N2 by multiplying the number of moles by 6.02 * 10^23

2.0 moles * 6.02 * 10^23 molecules/mole = 1.20 * 10^24

Each molecule has 2 atoms of Nitrogen so multiply this by 2 to get your answer.

1.20 * 10^24 molecules * 2 atoms/molecule = 2.40 * 10^24 atoms

56 g / 14 g/mol N = mol N

mol N x (6.02 x 10^23 atoms/mol) = atoms
