Thank you! This is the perfect opportunity to quote my favorite passage from Kim Stanley Robinson...

"...you old hippie, you got lucky and were born in the right little window and got to grab all the surplus of happiness that history ever produced, and you blew it, you stood around and did nothing while the right reaganed back into power and shut down all possibility of change for an entire generation, you blew it in a ten-year party and staggered off stoned and complicit. You neither learned to do machine politics nor dismantled the machine. Not one of you imagined what had to be done. And so the backlash came down, the reactionary power structure, stronger than ever."

I love the phrase "stoned and complicit", and using "reagan" as a verb really works.

Yes.

But the Hippies are still around. Look at Ted Kennedy and Nany Pelosi. THOSE people were the flower children of the 60s and 70s. Now they are more dangerous than ever because they are policy makers. We must keep up the fight agains the hippies.

Yes. If you look at it in that light, That is what is causing most of our problems now. Stupid hippies in political office. No one can make a decision or formulate coherent sentences.
Look at what is coming next, 70's swingers then 80's headbangers.
Oh good grief, when will it end?

You mean the lackluster state of affairs that Ford and Carter left Reagan(yes you misspelled it) with? Hardly had anything to do with hippies.

Reagan was a mess hmself. A washed-up actor who took his acting skills to the white house. He was just another pathetic president like most of them who followed him.

You mean the 2 trillion dollars in debt Reagan saddled our grand-children with? Oh that mess. And by the way it's spelled Reagan.

Yeah, And then he took benefits away from the elderly. I guess he did such a good job that we now fear worse then just "hippies".
