Yes, there are $1000 bills, but they are not for 'general distribution' ... they are used 'between banks' or between the bank and the government' (usually to purchase smaller bills/change). The $1000 bill is getting 'extremely rare' though, due to the 'computer age' and the 'internet' that makes 'money transfer' possible just by 'changing the numbers' within the 'banking accounting' ... so if you really WANT one you may actually be able to 'buy one' ... but you MUST KNOW that it would be 'valueless' to 'spend on the street' and could be used ONLY with a bank ... just go to any bank (your bank would probably be best) and ask if you can get your 'money' in a $1000 bill.

The $100 bill is the largest US currency currently in produced. Production of $500, $1,000, $5,000 and $10,000 bills was discontinued during WWII. While the PRIMARY purpose of these bills was bank transfers, they were NOT restricted to that use. Any that remain in circulation are still legal tender. However, the Federal Reserve is removing them from circulation and destroying them as the are received.

1000 dollar bills were first issued by the US government in 1861, but it's been phased out of the system.
They are only available now by buying from collectors. These notes WERE used primarily either in inter-bank transactions or by organized crime; it was the latter usage that prompted President Richard Nixon to issue an executive order in 1969 halting their use. With the advent of electronic banking, they became less necessary.

Any bills over $500 are no longer in circulation. The best way to get one is from a collector, or possibly a collectible coin shop.

If your paycheck is over 1000 dollars,(which mine always are because im a big dog) take it to the bank teller, and when she asks you how do you want your bills, tell them in thousands please. Please note, when using such big bills nobody will have change for it. Hate it when that happens.

Not for decades. If you want one, be prepared to pay at least 1500 for one. More if it is crisp, or mint condition.
