I'm a big Nirvana fan but to be honest it could be the case.
He was great for me at the time i got into music cos it showed me a different way of looking at things. With hindsight he may be over rated but it's a tough call cos of the amount of people he touched.

Nirvana placed out 3 albums collectively as Kurt became alive (Bleach, Nevermind, and In Utero). so some distance as i be conscious of they have been all "genuine". The albums, collectively as not intense in quantity, inspired many human beings and altered the mainstream track scene, for my section. I thoroughly agree that folk placed Kurt up on a pedistol, however the track became good and due to this human beings admire and prefer Nirvana plenty.

i think u could argue that he was... partly because his guitar playing was just just OK... but the fact on what he did to music before his death was unbelievable... he put Seattle or Washington on the music map... plus weather i, he or anyone likes it or not he made a new division of rock, i.e grunge. and the emotion he put into music was huge. plus his death sadly brought emotion to the music community kinda like john Lennon's death.did. as for if he his overrated... i think no but i can see why people might think so. and yeah people are in-titled to there opinions

I don't think so. He created a whole new genre of music and Nirvana was a good band.
It's just too bad he wasn't around long enough to enjoy it.
Bright flames burn out fast.

i really like nirvana and i think that alot of fans were sad to see that he had killed himself.
as to wether or not he was over rated i think that depends on your personal opinion and wether or not you were a fan of his. I think it was lame that he killed himself but i'm sure he had reasons for doing it that i wouldnt understand

I don't think he was or is, but I think that the controversy surrounding his death has sadly overshadowed everything else.

No, he wrote all those songs, and sang them with emotion.
