Some are, it depends on if the book has a cult following or if it is a really popular book. Like JK Rowling for example, a billionaire and yes a celebrity.

I'd say that they are, IF they are well known enough. Like, someone who wrote one poem in a book full of poems isnt really a celebrity. But someone who writes something like Harry Potter or something else very liked and well known, is.

whoever said " look at it this way - are celebrities considered authors? no! so authors are not considered celebrities. " is wrong. thats like saying "are potatoes considered as vegetables?? yes. so all vegetables are considered as potatoes, right?" anyone can see how ridiculous that sounds...

Very few well know authors act like celebrities. Philip Roth keeps a low profile in Connecticut. JD Salinger hides in New Hampshire. Once in a while Norman Mailer pops up in Brooklyn. Overall, however, authors keep low profiles. Introverts. Yet they do have adoring fans and I would consider them celebrities.

If they are well-known, i would say yes. Stephen King and J.K. Rowling are probably the best known authors and they are definitely celebrities.

That would be an insult to any author! Celebrities have no real talents and no real accomplishments, so that excludes authors.

Kind of.....I'd rather be famous as an author than as an actress or singer. Because, then you don't have people following you around all the time! Unless it's because you're Stephen King or J.K. Rowling.
