It is logical to assume that most thinkers or philosophers tend to be retrospective. He does have a beautiful and kind spirit. That, too, is magnified in his Q and A, and also with the comments he leaves on my profile. As for loneliness, if his heart yearns for someone he cannot have or if there is a separation of some sort then I think all of us would fall into a sense of being lonely for those reasons.

I am a deep thinker and I can a sure you I am not lonely. I've been in a relationship for 12 yrs now with my guy. I am always surrounded by family and friends. I work 40 to 50 hours per week. I spend alot of time with my friends as well and I always meet new people on a regular basis. I would have to say that I disagree for the most part, i'm sure that some maybe isolated but not all. My deep thoughts are usually a result of being surrounded by others
As for your comment about enki being lonely, did he tell you he was lonely or were you just assuming that he was lonely because he is a deep thinker..
I doubt he is lonely because he has many friends on here, my self included. however, I hope he ain't lonely, only he knows the true answer to that. thank you anyway for your question.

No, the happier he will become for what can be more satisfying than inner knowledge? Living in total ignorance gives you a false sense of happiness. A philosopher rather be a miserable Socrates than a happy fool. In addition, Enki, I find, is a poet not a philosopher.

Disagree. If I could draw a path for philosophy...

It would start be being a road to be traveled alone because it is your own self that you need to solve first and get to know above all.
But then enriched by many because without experience, debate and testing ones learning's there is little progress...
In the end the path necessarily leads to all man kind, because learning and knowledge without communication and application to better other peoples life is useless!

So the deeper a person thinks... the more he needs other peoples thoughts... the more knowledge one gets... the more he needs to share it with others.

Great question!

I disagree, it's a matter of what kind of people you like to be around. Enki has a beautiful mind and soul. Personally, I find him very refreshing. I can't see him ever being alone.

I do not think that a philosopher, like you, as you say, are ever lonely, because I am a Woman that sometimes would like to be alone, and not be bothered by no one. I like to think deeply and analyze, my thoughts. I love to read any kind of story, that is interested but, it is impossible to do, since I have a lot of Grand kids, and I help my Daughters take care of them, because they work. Other than that I would like to go somewhere, to be all aone for at least three hours. But impossible to do.

Yes I agree! Because the deeper I get in my thinking it seems I isolate myself. I think that is because others cannot understand my reasoning!. With that its only natural for us to be lonely, because we try to understand more than others. Hard to put into words but you know what I mean.

It may sound irrelevant, but your question made me think of a quote: "Those who loved one woman for their entire life, know love. Those who loved many women - know women." I think it's A. Dumas, but I'm not sure.
No, I don't think loneliness has to do with the deepness of the thoughts. It has to do with depression and self-scrutinizing. The wisest people I know are not lonely at all. Solitude is not equal to loneliness.

i agree. i think that the more you think the more you discover that depressens you and you know the brutal truth about such things and then you learn that it is not true and that you really arent happy because you know the resoning behind everything.

but you also when philosophizing you realize that some things you need to realize, but not allow to sink in.

The image on his avatar assures him that, at least on this board, he will never be lonely... Amazing what a pretty picture can do. But what is the reality behind the appearance?
