I really think it is because they ask conflicting questions. I have noticed that when answering a question that seems a little far fetched, they either have private questions, or they have asked several outrageous questions. I called one person on it last week when I posted an answer, she said she was in love with her soon to be step father, and found she had asked a lot of strange questions or described some highly unlikely scenarios. She has since made her profile private. See the questions I have answered to find the question and my answer. I would never report anyone.

Well I keep mine private as there ARE a few people on this site that I DON'T want seeing anything about me. INCLUDING my questions and or answers. BUT If we ARE connected then you can see everything I have posted.

Because otherwise trolls go down you list of questions and report them all and get your account deleted for no reason.
That is why my stuff is private. My last account got suspended because of some troll that reported all my questions. That day I got about 10 violations for questions that weren't even bad. Yahoo doesn't even look over questions that get reported, they just send you a violation notice when you don't deserve it.

Mine are private because some people have nothing better to do than to sit back and violate my Q&A. Let's see them try that when they'd need to connect to me first! I have also said on my profile page that if someone connects to me without letting me know first... I will block them.

I guess they don't won't others to see what they have answering or asking but I have noticed that is is mostly clones and trolls that have private ones more so then others

they don't like to let us see what they answered or asked,
i saw one of them who has 7 different cars and like 12 different food :-)

i think some do it because lame people in here go through every Q and A you have looking for something to try and report you for.
