The screaming bundle was the horcrux within Harry that resulted from the failed Avada Kedavra curse, which left part of Voldemort's soul in Harry. If you recall, in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Voldemort was a similar grotesque bundle when Wormtail was preparing to resurrect the Dark Lord. It was that part of Voldemort's soul that kept the link between Harry and Voldemort. Dumbledore told Harry he couldn't save the thing because it was not tied to the living realm anymore, unlike Harry who could still return due to the fact that his mother's protection was coursing the veins of the still living Voldemort. Harry could not die unless the non-Horcrux part of Voldemort (the "living" Voldemort) died first. This allowed Harry to return to life despite the Killing Curse. It just so happens that the Killing Curse is one of the few ways to destroy a Horcrux (OOPS for Voldemort!) but he never knew it was inside of Harry, since he split his soul so many times.

Harry was the unknown 7th Horcrux. When Voldemort originally tried to kill Harry a portion of his soul inhabited Harry. The screaming thing was the part of Voldemort's soul that had inhabited Harry's scar. That was why/how Harry knew what Voldemort was doing, thinking and feeling.

it was the part of voledmort that was in harry, the discarded horcrux! The part of voldemorts soul that had attached itself to Harry! When Harry died that part of voldemort was cast from Harry, that is why dumbledore said they could do nothing for it because voldemort had mutilated his soul so much that it could only wither in the corner in pain.

It sounded to me like what Voldemort was in book 4 before he drank Harry's blood and stuff and got his body back. Also, when Harry says later to Voldy that he doesn't have a lot to look forward to, it seems like maybe this is what Voldemort will become after Harry kills him. Just a theory.

It was the part of Voldemort that was in Harry. He killed the Horcrux in Harry, and that's what was at King's Cross.

I think that was the part of Voldemort that was inside of Harry - you know, since he was a horcrux and all. I'm pretty sure it was part of Voldemort's soul that he himself had just killed when he tried to kill Harry.

That was what was left of Voldemort's soul.
After it was split into that many pieces, that was all that remained. The problem is that it's in no fit state to 'move on' being unable to move of its own accord. Riddle would be stuck in limbo upon death.
There wasn't really anything Harry could do; Riddle did it to himself. There was no comfort Harry could give, nor growth he could provide. Riddle was the product of his own choices.
