America was there before Columbus discovered it and was inhabited by the so called Red Indians. the Europeans came used their superior weapons, guile and cunning to take over the land and shunted the original inhabitants to the 'settlements'. today's American is scared of such consequences in terms of loss of jobs, take over of businesses, first putting a foot into the government and than achieving majority status in the houses by having increasing number of faithful voters and so on. that is the reason that not only Americans but most countries (particularly the so called advanced countries) have build barriers in terms of complicated and often unreasonable rules and regulations to prevent uncontrolled migrations. may not be idealistic but is pragmatic from their point of view.

>In the beginning, First Nation People welcomed visitors with open arms. The trouble started when the visitors decided that they wanted to take over and destroy.
You could say we learned from the first nation peoples' mistake... Although as I'm sure you know, most people don't have a problem with people coming here legally, the problem in most people's mind is when they come illegally.

If you are not legally supposed to be here, I'm sorry, you need to check out. Other countries have their rules, SO DO WE! USA rules aren't even as enforced as much as other countries, so why are we badmouthed? Europe and the mid east will not let you in to stay. If you are an immigrant, you have your papers, and you are here because you want to be a citizen, rock on. If not..ship out.

They complain about them taking the jobs or getting special treatment. It's petty and I think it makes them feel better about themselves.

It makes them feel good when they do it, so they keep doing it. Is it right? Of course not.
