It didn't just happen. It happened many times. They delete the question but they don't send a notice. I find out if I check my questions for best answers or if I happen to see my 10 points go away. Just like frostbite described.

Hmm ... if you don't get the notice, then it can't be a violation. But, the question wouldn't be deleted if it didn't violate something ...
Yet, it can't be a violation, because they didn't give you a notice ...

i would like to know the answer to this as well. i've had 4 questions deleted that i didn't even know were gone until i went to pick a best answer. i think they even took points too because once when i got a best answer it said -10 points.

i have been watching mine and if i have no answers, i swoop in before they can violate me, and delete my Q. the last one was so innocent. I asked what time of year was best to go to greece or italy.:)

Give them about 20 minutes, and either they will repost your question or, you will probably get that violation notice.

well i know i've gotten a best answer and the ?was deleted by the time i got to it to see what it was.
