My moms friend asked this and I wouldn't think that it is actually crackers but I have no Idea...please help before this silly question really starts to bug me.

Seriously, I know the awnser... I asked Dad cuz he has one, He said they are to store gun powder in..
i KNOW what you mean though..Sometimes these silly questions to get to people. Lol. It was startin' to get to me at first.

Crackers, of course. Long time ago, things didn't come packaged as they do today. Crackers came in barrels, as did pickles, etc. You bought them by the pound or whatever.
