Vampires are a symbol, used to describe a specific set of people, who have lost most of their astral body which supplies normal humans with emotional energy. This can happen due to trauma or near-death, or due to association with strong evil spirits/elementals. This occurence was more common back in the old days when peple believed working with spirits, witchcraft, etc. and where immense fears casued by these beliefs could traumatize to cause this dislocation of the astral vehicle (an overlaid emotional cloak of two orders of magnitude higher energy compared to our physical selves.)

Now these people shun people who are healthy and mentally strong. They like people who are emotional, and in mental and emotional turmoil (virgins?) becasue in their presence they can leech off some of their emotional energy 9sucking blood!). They cannot be seen in the mirror, because mirrors are the symbol of showing us our true selves, and these bodies are incomplete and thus do not represent a true person. Vampires fear the sun, becasue the sun has dense astral energy that healthy humans can partly take up, but a vampire's astral body is too week to be able to stand those rays.
Do you know any vampires/half-vampires among the people around you? Look for some of the signs above and you will be surprised that many humans are part vampires at some times. The wise old people of the past, made the horrible stories up in order to keep us away from that type of people. unfortunately, now the whole symbolism is lost and people are making stupid movies about it.

Well the most common belief as far as vampires and reflections go is that what a person saw in a mirror was their own soul. The vampires were considered not to have a soul and since they had no soul they had no reflection because there would no soul to see in the mirror.

It depends on the particular mythology. One cynical school of thought says that vampires that do cast a reflection are an invention of low budget Vampire movies to save on the special effects bill :)

Because mirrors are backed with silver(which is then usually coated in black paint to keep the light from shining through) and with silver being pure, a vampire won't reflect in it.

but what about zombies? Do zombies have souls? They are dead. And why would their clothes not show up either? Wouldn't they just look like a set of clothes floating ? Like the invisible man? I've always wondered about the whole no reflection thing. It just made no sense to me.

Because then people facing a mirror could see them sneaking up on them........There are no such things as vampires. This was based on a queen who bathed in virgins' blood & the folks who are ultrasensitive to sunlight.

An old & unfactual tale...anything with density reflects...even spirits who are no longer contained by human vehicles have been photographed as mirrored images, since their energy densifies space when they create their visual form...Just one of those "think a little deeper" things.
