Is it true that if you program an universal remote to 9-1-1, then use the channel or volume buttons when pointing at a red light, that it turns it green.

I heard that emergency vehicles and cops have a thing in their car that automatically makes the lights green, and a remote can do just that

I saw a news story about this a few years ago where someone was selling the devices emergency vehicles use to change the lights. Since then I think they have been banned because the police weren't too happy about us ordinary folk having them. I can't remember what they were called but maybe if you do some research you can find out.

We do have a thing that switches the lights. It works by pulsing a light at a certain frequency. an infra-red tv remote will not cause the light to change, as the system works on visible light.
