This poll confirms what we already know, Liberals are a Miserable LOT. Why?

"Some 45% of all Republicans report being very happy, compared with just 30% of Democrats and 29% of independents. This finding has also been around a long time; Republicans have been happier than Democrats every year since the General Social Survey began taking its measurements in 1972.

Since 1972, the GOP happiness edge over Democrats has ebbed and flowed in a pattern that appears unrelated to which party is in political power.

For example, Republicans had up to a 10 and 11 percentage point happiness edge over Democrats in various years of both the Carter and Clinton presidencies."

I'm honestly not trying to be mean when I say, that I'm truly convinced that Liberals are more concerned with their image than they are with the welfare of the country.
I believe that's why so many celebrities profess to be Liberals, and I would even include college professors.
It's so much more emotional and dramatic to say" I'm for the little guy", or "Big corporations are destroying our country".
How would it go over, for a celebrity to say, " I think the "party of the rich" will provide better leadership for our country".
This could be true, but they're smart enough to know that it might cause them to be hit with rotten eggs by the very emotional Left. Their house may even be burned

College professors must write many academic papers before they receive tenure. These papers must not be boring statements of facts. So, in comes the drama and emotion, that they will employ throughout their career.

The Robin Hood types always get more attention, and this type of stealing seems acceptable to those who haven't been too successful using their own skills or intelligence. All a liberal politician need do is promise to help people steal from the rich.
Therefore, when you hear the sound and fury in their ranting, don't conclude that it's all that sincere. It's more likely that it's purely for the dramatic effect that they believe will bring them the attention they crave.
They claim to want to solve all the problems in the world, but they want to solve those problems with some other person's work and money, while they take credit for the solution.

Here is a thought for you. Studies also show that people who attend church regularly, pray regularly, and have faith in God tend to be happier, wealthier, and most of all healthier!! Since the majority of conservatives tend to be Christians. My thought would be that is why conservatives are the happier lot.
I think that you nailed it when you made the comment about the Nanny state being your God! When you put all of your faith in big government and go around telling Christians how horrible we are because we want a nativity scene at Christmas or prayer in schools. Plus libs tend to malign a faith that is thousands of years old. How miserable does a person have to be to have nothing better to do than report nativity scenes, or some prayer group in school. Or put all of your energy into taking In God We Trust off of our currency or Under God out of our Pledge of Allegiance. Aren't there more important things out there to be concerned about? Plus once again, seperation of Church and State does not mean what the libs have made it into. It simply means that the government shall not have any established church.
So maybe if more libs had a little more faith in God instead of big government, they would be a happier lot as well

As a non-American on the exterior finding in, because it have been, i might danger a wager at American top wingers - Republicans i've got faith they're stated as - asking stupid questions. in case you heavily choose to comprehend what makes "a liberal tick" why do no longer you ask one in a civilised, nicely-mannered way? you already know, in the form you desire human beings to speak to you. Or do you like human beings to insult you in the previous you start up a verbal substitute with them? Liberals - vile, indignant, unsettled? quite? i've got faith that's slightly self-description on the portion of your subconscious.

I'm a liberal, and I'm angry because our once-great country is being destroyed by our government.

Right after September 11th, we had the support of several countries. People, for the most part, were on our side. Now look at us. Our government squandered that good will, and the innocent lives lost on that day have yet to be avenged.

This country has become a disgrace to the ideas we were founded on. Doesn't that make YOU angry?

That's an interesting survey, thanks for the link. Happiness was measured along several variables, and it was found that:

"Married people are happier than unmarrieds. People who worship frequently are happier than those who don't. Republicans are happier than Democrats. Rich people are happier than poor people. Whites and Hispanics are happier than blacks. Sunbelt residents are happier than those who live in the rest of the country."

These categories are not mutually exclusive so there is a fallacy in simply saying Republicans are happier than Democrats. What I mean is that if more Republicans than Democrats are white, if more live in the Sunbelt, and if more are rich, then indeed, they are in the happier group. The survey does not posit a cause-and-effect relationship, and these other categories, which may, by themselves determine "happiness" have little to do with political orientation.

45% of all Republicans report being very happy? That just proves that ignorance coupled with greed is bliss. Most ignorant non-introspective people are happy. they don't know any better. they think they can buy themselves into happiness.

I am a liberal and I'm very happy except with the government we now have, Democrat and GOP alike.

Here's news for you the Nanny State is something for the GOP today, girlie. Since it is the richest 1% in this country who are getting the welfare in the form of subsidies, grants, earmarks and tax write off give aways that this government has granted them. You pay for more corporate welfare with your taxes than you do for welfare for the poor. So it is very obvious that the GOP and their base that is far more dependent on the Nanny State than the poor or the middle class is these days. Direct anti-poverty programs account for only eight percent of Federal expenditures, rising to fourteen percent if we count the federal contribution to Medicaid. Another estimate is that U.S. anti-poverty expenditures comprised roughly four percent of gross domestic product in 1992.

Well we just get depressed 'cause we aren't as perfect as you Republicans! We just sit on the outside, and look into where the warm fire is raging! (yawn)
And on top of that, how can we compete with you superiority complex to such extremes?( I'm rolling my eyes)
You are just richer, better, smell better, and are just cute as a button!(gag me)
We live in glorious expectation, as to when you will walk on water! (sigh)
I guess we will just have to try and struggle on, and live in your overpowering shadows! (gasp)
Now! I answered this question in the same stupid inane form in which you question was posed! I trust I made my point!
And how does my post come out more repulsive than the question? Yahoo?
