It comes in second right after national security. Why? Because my nation's sovereignty means everything to me.

Border security is an issue and I think, at least the Democrats have addressed that as a top priority, along with National Security!
We have a lot of issues to address and one is how to stop the hemorrhaging of our debt, which is eventually going to kill us!
The Republicans, now get this, are running on "fiscal responsibility" claiming you will get tax increases from the Democrats! That is probably true, but they will not effect the majority of Americans. I love the part where they say that you will ALL see tax hikes! That isn't true, and what they fail to mention that it is because of their irresponsible spending for 8 years that issue needs to even be touched!
You can't keep the economy going forever built on a stack of cards!
Health care is an issue. Many make obscene amounts of money in the US and then walk over women who are bleeding to death in the middle of an Emergency room floor while doctor's and nurses walked over her body!
The VA and our military hospitals, along with their equipment needs to be addressed. Hopefully they won't trade their M16's for another piece of junk that we know already that it is!
We have lots of issues we need to address rather than the two that the Republicans address! The wealthy and corporations!

Border security is a joke. If the government wanted to have it, they'd pay for it. They don't so they don't. Plain and simple.
If they wanted border security they would do it the way the Romans did it 3000 years ago and the way the Chinese and the Swiss do it today. They put their Army on their border, duh!
Face it, big business, the patrons of our Congress and our White House doesn't want their cheap illegal, no tax work force to go away.
So it won't. Big business gets what it wants in this country.
If you don't, too bad, congress doesn't care if you aren't writing them $2000.00 checks.
What's more important?
How about bringing back the 300,000 good paying jobs big business has sent to China over the last six years?
How about making it illegal for companies to export jobs and incorporate in the Bahamas to avoid US taxes on the profits they make here at home?
How about ending the billion dollar corporate campaign finance industry and making our Congress accountable to "we the people", not just multi-billion dollar conglomerates?
And that's just what's more important when it comes to jobs!

Immigration is the most important issue even over Iraq. If we don't secure our borders then we can not feel secure that whatever happens in Iraq (staying or leaving) that it won't come to our doorstep.
Additionally, illegal immigration (which is the main concern) causes our country financial hardships. Other countries, with the exception of England, are harder on illegal immigration because they recognize the FINANCIAL THREAT.
The candidate who has the strongest stand on this issue and has the most well thought out strategy and plan is the one that gets my vote.

It is importance to me in the sense that I live near the Canadian border and realize the importance of easy access to the USA and Canada for our economic well being. We are going to have a lot of problems with the new passport regulations being phased in right now. Beyond the passport regulations, the border crossings are crowded and need expansion.

Even if we secure our borders it want stop home land attacks... Terrorism comes in all forms including our government, which by the way needs terrorism to implement their plans of militarizing our police and suspending your personal rights. The more the terror the more rights you're willing to give up!!!
All done for the illusion of security!!!
Remember there will never be security as long as their is hate and we cannot get rid of hate no matter what we do!!

Its a top 3 issue for me. Now here is the problem - both nominees will 'say" the same thing about border security just like they said it was fixed in 1986....since then 10 million more illegals have come to America and probably 9.5 million of them have taken American jobs. (employers were suppose to be penalized, illegals were suppose to be deported, but promises were BS).

Getting out of this fictitious war in Iraq is priority #1 because it is a drain and threat to our national security.
Hopefully the next president will get bin laden before he gets to us because it is obvious Bush wants no piece of him for unknown reasons. Family business ties? I don't know. Maybe.
Border security is a very important issue and this also seems like something Bush doesn't want to do. I'm open to either major party but it seems like the GOP is soft on terror.

Extremely because I do not want to have a national ID that is going to tell the gov't of Canada US and Mexico and the United Nations personal info. I also see this as a threat to our right to bear arms. Also our economy isn't doing good enough to just let them flood in here and use our welfare programs that Americans may need.

Managing the war on terror is #1.
Border security is #1A.
Reducing the size of government #2
Get those done, and I'll play in the small stuff.
