Yes. Very quickly. Some are of slightly better quality than others, but they all wear out eventually.

Magnetic media can develop a problem. The magnetic fields bleed together and can make the signal week. Experts say you should play your VCR and Cassette tapes periodically to keep this from happening, and you can have a similar issue with magnetic media. The problems I have with magnetic media mainly deals with the format changes of dos over time. Eventually, the dos of the system changes to the point it is no longer compatible with old discs. If you have windows xp, it will be very difficult to dig out files from a DOS 3.0 disk. Sometimes the heads don't line up with the tracks unless you are reading it with the same disk drive that recorded the info.
Thank god for CD's and flash drives.

Yes they definitely do, especially if there not handled right. Like where and how you store them. If you start losing files or not being able to copy they make disk repair software to be able to fix-em enough to copy whats needed. Its a turn of the new century etc-Flash Drive, CD. Get rid of the floppies.

Don't use floppy discs. They are becoming quite obsolete these days. I would go with putting things on CD'S, or those little things you plug into the USB port.
