There is no real difference. The only difference is that you can install Windows or Linux on either, whereas you may only legally install Mac OS X on a Mac.
I am not in the least bit confused. From Phil Schiller:
"We will not allow running Mac OS X on anything other than an Apple Mac."
A hacked version of Mac OS X can be installed on a generic PC, but it is not legal. You are thinking of Darwin, Rob.

To be honest lots of things say if you buy a game from Gamestation and then you get home and find that it is not compatable with mac osx so really then you are screwed. There is also the fact that you can get parts for pc's cheaper than mac's. Also with Windows Vista you can actually link up microsoft xbox 360 controllers with windows so you can play computer games with the real remote - therefore basiclly saving you the cost of an Xbox 360.
The callout fee to check if there is something wrong with your mac is about £75 - Even if it is just a fuse.
There is no need for a callout fee in windows because computer repair shops are widly spread throuout the country (eg: Currys, Pc World).
So basiclly what i am trying to say is get a PC not a mac because persnally i think that they are much better than macs - and you can get more power in your pc and you can mod it!!

First of all, you can legally install Mac OS on a PC just fine(first responder is confused).
Macs are good if you really have no idea what a computer is or what it does. PCs are great if you want to be a part of the majority of computer users or if you want to use popular applications/games.
At a hardware level, Apple is currently using x86 architecture CPUs from Intel, so at the hardware level, a PC and a Mac are identical. Really, it just comes down to software. If you want to just read e-mail, browse the internet, etc., a Mac is fine. If you want to play the latest computer games, or use a special application, you'll want a Windows based PC (let's get something straight - there's no reason to use Linux unless you still live in your parents' basement and want to feel intellectually superior to others, while still being inferior socially, physically, and emotionally). Since most computer users are Windows based PC users, by default some great new app will be written for Windows, then may be ported to apple or linux as an afterthought.

Macs can and do get viruses, so switching to a Mac considering which you do no longer choose viruses isn't an outstanding reason. I mean, in case you fairly want an endemic-unfastened computing journey, in basic terms installation Linux on a computer. Viruses are practically non-existant for Linux. besides, the only reason you're able to change to Mac is that in case you like Mac OS and Mac-in straight forward terms application. otherwise, you're able to get a computer. Macs are overpriced and function lots of compatibility themes. although, this is nicely worth noting that Microsoft place of work 2008 (for Mac) is completely nicely suited with Microsoft place of work 2007 (for living house windows)

mac cannot get a virus. well im not quite sure about the macs with the intel proccesors though. but most cannot.
i know theres some like faster processors is mostly the thing. i just dont see why people would get a mac and the purchase virtual pc. kinda defeats the purpose of having a mac. anyways im a pc yes it might suck compared to mac. but i rarely get a virus. its fast and there when i need it. i dont have any trouble downloading or upgrading.

Pro for PC: "Misery loves company."
Con for PC: Almost everything else.
I have been a PC user since 1980s, so my advice is to get a Mac if you can afford it.

Macs cost more than PCs
Macs don't need as much GB/MB of RAM and HARD DRIVE
Macs are more secure
Macs rarely (if not then never) get virus's
Macs are easier for beginner computer users
Macs software can be hard to find (much easier than it use to be, and getting easier by the day)

Upgradibility and maintenance on a PC is easier.....MAC is fast and efficient but if you like MS software and games i dont think you should go for MAC..its good if you going to stick with it for at least 2-3 years
