Hi, first off it doesn't sound like an ectopic to me. I have had 4 now and my Hcg never went that high. He may be concerned that it may be a twin pregnancy as the levels are rising high and until a baby (or 2 or 3 lol) are spotted they will keep you on a careful watch list.
There are specific symptoms of an ectopic which you may experience, these include: Shoulder tip pain in one or both shoulders, severe (I mean massive doubled over) pain in one side, vomiting and diarhea, dizzyness and fainting, brown 'prune juice' bleeding or severe heavy bleeding, a swollen abdomen which is rock solid to the touch.
You may get all or none of the above with an ectopic. It's good that the sac has been seen and that your Hcg are high, try to think positively but be aware of any odd feelings and symptoms.
Just to add an ectopic can not be seen on a scan, even internal scans can not show up the inside of a fallopian tube clearly enough to diagnose an ectopic, all they show regarding ectopics is any internal bleeding coming from the tubes or possibly if the positioning is right a distended bulge in the tube.
Hope this helps and good luck xx
One more thing! Write all your questions down as you think of them, I know what it is like when you actually get to see a doc, all your questions go out your head!

How could they not tell if the baby was in your uterus or your fallopian tube? An ectopic is where the embryo implants outside of the uterus. You must not have understood. They may be thinking you have a blighted ovum where there is only a yolk sac but no baby. Your levels go up with that because of the placenta. It still might be too early to see the baby, so dont lose hope.

if it was ectopic, there wouldnt be a sac in your uterus. It could be a blighted ovum, where the sac grows but with no baby in it.I would say if your hcg is doubling then thats a good sign but im not too sure. ectopic usually causes a lot of pain in one side of your lower abdomen and if it ruptures it can cause pain in your shoulder too. if your worried call your gp and ask him to explian what the results mean x

You really need to speak with YOUR doctor.
An Ectopic pregnancy is not good, you need to know one way or the other immediatly.
If it is ectopic then that can be fatal, so I'm suprised your doctor hasn't spoken to you.
Try googling your notes, be patient, and don't worry BUT CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR.
