I really need to delete it caue ever since this has started to be recognised my computer has been really slow and there are loads of pop ups. I think I got it from Limewire. I have tried all the things like ad watch and spybot. Also the computer wont let me restore to an earlier date and i have lost the cds that had a back up of everything to begin with.Am i screwed?

Trojan.Vundo is a Trojan downloader which may secretly install itself on your PC via browser exploits and other security holes. Once it is active on your computer, Trojan.Vundo will download and display large numbers of popup adverts. In addition, Trojan.Vundo may download and install additional obtrusive adware programs. Trojan.Vundo can be extremely difficult to remove manually, and may cause serious system instability and PC slowdowns.

This will remove it, free.

You can run antivirus and antispyware programs, but the sad fact is if you have found one virus on your computer, you probably have several. Cleaning the computer now requires you to follow these steps, because modern viruses and spyware entrench themselves in files that your computer needs in order to run: 1. Virus-check your data files (not application files-- you have installer CDs for those). 2. Back up the data files, getting them off your hard drive. 3. Get your original operating system CDs that came with your computer. 4. Boot your computer from the operating system CD. 5. Select the option that erases your hard drive and then reinstall your system software. 6. Turn on your software firewall that came with your operating system. 7. Reconnect to the internet, and download *all* Windows updates, no matter how long it takes. 8. Reinstall your application software, and update the applications as much as you can. 9. Reinstall your data files. 10. Create a limited user account on your system that does *not* have administrator access, and web surf only from this account. Yes, this is a pain in the butt. No, there is no other way. No, antivirus and antispyware programs cannot fix this problem on its own. So, what do you do in the future? 1. Never click on links you find in an e-mail. 2. Never open an e-mail attachment, ever. 3. Only download files from a reputable website that you know is on the up-and-up. 4. Never use bit-torrent and other file-sharing programs. 5. Never use an unsolicited drive-checking site. 6. Turn off all java and java scripting by default, and only enable java and java scripting for sites that you know you can trust. 7. Never read an unsolicited e-mail, and delete spam immediately. It is possible to be hacked by reading an e-mail alone. Please adhere to the 'dont's' I provided above, because you will have to repeat the cleaning steps that I listed first *every time you get infected.* Anti-spyware and anti-virus programs are good to have, but they are a second line of defense. The best way to protect your system is you, and changing your behavior. Good luck!

This is not a virus - it is spyware. Norton is particularly bad about "seeing" this but is totally unable to remove it, it just keeps you upset telling you there is a virus in your computer. What you really need is to Get SpyBot Search & Destroy to safely remove spyware. Best of all, it’s free. After installing it, immunize the computer against over 30,000 known pieces of spyware. Then run a full bot check and remove everything it finds using the Fix Selected Problems tab. Keep it updated and run it weekly to keep your computer free of this stuff. Then get Ad-Aware also from download.com and run it the first time doing a Full System Scan. Thereafter, run a Smart Scan daily.

Keep them both updated and use them.

This is a trojan horse (virus) that will download malicious software anytime that it wants. You could have several virusus already installed under this Trojan.vundo name and successfully running. DO NOT attempt to send and receive valuable data to and from other computers, as well as stay away from websites that will have valuable and personal information that could harm you in anyway. I recommend that you go to http://www.comodo.com/products/free_products.html and download the Comodo Anti-Malware, this software is specified to search and remove any malware that may have been installed in the past. Please for your sake after you've removed the virus, update your anti-virus software and Operating System periodically! As well as get a firewall much like the one at that link that I have provided for you above. This is all FREE software so please for your sake take advantage of this security. I hope this has helped you. Good luck.

You can also try Spyware Doctor. I had a stupid self propagating virus. But as soon as I installed spyware doctor, everything was fine and since then (4 months) nothing has happened to my system.

Stop using p2p filesharing software. Transfer all music to cd's or your ipod, not just copy. Get them off of your computer for good. then download free.grisoft.com... scan in safemode.
