Well at the age of 18 I had been in college for a yr already as I graduated HS at 16. And I didnt get a car I got that when I graduated. I did however get a trip to Hawaii for me and 2 of my closest friends (not trying to rub it in). My good friend who was not as well off as we were was simply given a party. Her B-day is in the summer her family had a pool and they bbq'ed and had a pool party. She was also given cash to do with as she pleased. Doesnt matter in the end what you get or how much it cost, its the thought that counts.

I didnt get anything "special" for my 18th birthday. My parents co-signed for me for a car for my 16th birthday, but as for my 18th... I got $100. And for my 21 I got dinner at my fav place... that was it. Welcome to the life of an adult. When you become an adult, people dont really give you too much "big" stuff.

my parents have always struggled with money because my dad is the only one who worked, my mom couldn't work because of health reasons. So for my 18th birthday I got a graduation party with 2 of my friends with lots of food. My friends gave me a jewelry box and a sweater. I thought it was great.

I have a car because my dad got a new one... and I'm turning 18 in October and my dad is buying me a fairly inexpensive , CD player/stereo system for my car.
You could ask for money. Or, some type of momento...
Uhmmmm, you could ask for a new stereo for your room (a nice one!) or a cell phone if you don't have one.
I'm sorry, this really didn't help like I had thought it would!

I was in beauty school (in high school) and my mom and step dad paid for my kit I needed, it was around $300.00 and honestly I don't remember what my dad gave me, I lived with him so it had already been an expensive year for him, we were also middle class, I think it might have been $100.00 because my step mom and him kept the money separate and she was not very nice to me, so it was all he could afford.
I did already have a car my dad bought but he only paid $300.00 for it and I was glad to have it. I am 34 by the way,but even then $300.00 did not get you much, but it still got me where I wanted to go.

Every year (no matter if it's a milestone birthday or not) we each get $100. This year, I got $100 for my sixteenth birthday and my brother got $100 for his eighteenth birthday. But I'm happy with it because that's $100 more every year that I get for just being me. You should be grateful for what you have, because there are alot people out there who don't get anything for their birthdays. =)

NOT A THING. No joke. I think I got a card from my parents. My Godmother gave me a birthstone ring.
Even middle class parents struggle. Why expect a huge gift for your 18th???
Be grateful that you have loving parents.

my parents gave me their version of a class ring - since i prefer gold to silver, the ring was in a 14k gold setting, with a small diamond in the center of the ring. i got the diamond because that's my birthstone. they also thought that it had more of a "personal" touch to it than a regular class ring. my 17th i got a silver bracelet that was stolen from me somehow, still haven't figured that one out as i never took it off....and this past birthday, my 19th, i just got a card, some hair curlers, and gum. it had to be mailed because i moved from WI to AK with my then fiance now hubby....hope that this gave you some ideas....
