Oh fortuna - Orff; way awesome fastly impending doom.
Tocatta and Fugue in D minor - Bach; spooky, really spooky - recognized by everyone as ghosts and ghouls music. cliche
Night on Bald Mountain - version from Fantasia done by Rimsky-Korsakov; very emotionally intense
Witch's Sabbath - Berlioz
Ride of the Walkyrie - Wagner - more impending doom (or "Kill the wabbit" or Apocalypse Now)
Mars - Holst; from The Planets. impending angry doom. Very angry.
Requiem - Mozart; sad, very sad
Moonlight Sonata (slow movement) - Beethoven; also very sad. Dude was way depressed when he wrote this one.
Rite of Spring - Infernal Dance of King.... -- Stravinsky; demons dancing
Tuba Mirum or dies irae - Verdi; angry, war, doom,
Battle Theme, Star Wars - Williams; impending doom and darkness but a bit cliche.
just a few thoughts... classical music is excellent for influencing mood and emotion.

"Dark" is not very specific so included a few things that could be described as dark. All those people who has said Carmina Brumana are wrong, it is a song about the summer it just sounds dark.
Touch like and angel of death - Children of Bodom
Dragula - Rob Zombie
Nipthetamine (not spelled right)- Cradle of filth
Alone i break - Korn
Clayman - Inflames
Angry chair - Alice in chains

The Imperial March from Star Wars is really sinister and dark sounding.
Lullaby by The Cure is another one. Also The Funeral Party by The Cure off their 3rd album Faith is dark too.

Check out Metallica's Kill em all album (one of their first). Lots of dark sounding stuff there. Really, if you want dark music, death metal is what you are going to get. Embrace it

The soundtrack from the "Hitman" game PS2 always turns my blood cold , it's classical but it's scary !
Or type - lyrics as i walk through the valley of the shadow of death - in to your browser , i cant remember the name of the song but its modern and sinister .
