I am a short time US visitor with tourist visa. I want to visit Niagara falls in the US side. Don't want to go Canada side to avoid any visa problems.
I have a plan to spend 2 days in niagara falls. Since I am not familiar abou the place, your suggestions would be great to make my plan. Need suggestions about hotels, places to visit (for aged woman). Which one is better, staying near Buffalo airport or near falls?. If I stay near falls is it possible to visit all the attractions in near by areas by walk?. How much approximate taxi cab charge will be from Buffalo airport to hotel near by falls. Is it necessary to take a rental car to visit places?

Appreciate your travel tips. Thanks.

You can have a good time, even with only half the experience since you aren't crossing the border.

Don't know how much money you have to spend for a hotel. The Seneca Niagara Casino has an adjoining hotel, and is only a couple of blocks from the Falls. It is brand new so it's probably pretty good. There are a couple of other mid-range hotels in the area, like the Hampton.

Places to visit -- the Maid of the Mist ride is pretty unforgettable, and easily accessed. The Cave of the Winds is a walkway between the two falls -- a little wet (and thus slippery) so you'll have to decide this one for yourself -- but still nice. Goat Island, which is between the falls, is a great place for a walk. There is tram service in the area in the summer. Whirlpool State Park is a little north of the Falls (probably a drive), and has a great view of the gorge.

Niagara Falls is about a half-hour from Buffalo and its airport. I think you'd be happier if you rented a car in Buffalo. It would pay for itself pretty quickly.

Hope this helps.

The American side has a lot to do and is less commercialized. Look at this web site:

I have stayed at the Hampton Inn near the falls which is not that expensive and has a nice continental breakfast with a very friendly staff.

You don't realy need a rental car because most of the attractions are next to the falls. The Hampton Inn is close to the falls.

I hope you enjoy your trip!

There is nothing on the US side. Its all in Canada. Niagara Falls New York is a veritable armpit.

It depends on how many people are going (remember you want luxury and to have fun there too). If there are less people, then you can at least rent a hotel. If there are more so you can rent an RV.
