Smallest is KB, then MB, and the biggest is GB.
8 Bits in a Byte
1024 Bytes in a KB
1024 KB in a MB
1024 MB in a GB
1024 GB in a Terabyte.

8 Bits = 1 Byte (B)

1,024 Bytes (B) = 1 Kilobyte (KB)

1,024 Kilobytes (KB) = 1 Megabyte (MB)

1,024 Megabytes (MB) = 1 Gigabyte (GB)

1,024 Gigabyes (GB) = 1 Terrabyte (TB)

There are more, and i think someone did list a few more, weather they're right or not. I do not know, but thats just extreme.

We're coming to the point we're we see'ing terrabytes around a little bit and they will become more popular, and also now you dont see any applications only using bits or bytes any more.

For a normal person theres 1000 kilobytes in a megabyte etc.. But in technical terms its actually 1024. But you wont see that when buying pc components.

A Yottabyte is the biggest you can get...YB

(in order KB MB GB on the list)

kB (kilobyte) 10001 = 103 KB 10241 = 210 KiB (kibibyte) 210
MB (megabyte) 10002 = 106 MB 10242 = 220 MiB (mebibyte) 220
GB (gigabyte) 10003 = 109 GB 10243 = 230 GiB (gibibyte) 230
TB (terabyte) 10004 = 1012 TB 10244 = 240 TiB (tebibyte) 240
PB (petabyte) 10005 = 1015 PB 10245 = 250 PiB (pebibyte) 250
EB (exabyte) 10006 = 1018 EB 10246 = 260 EiB (exbibyte) 260
ZB (zettabyte) 10007 = 1021 ZB 10247 = 270 ZiB (zebibyte) 270
YB (yottabyte) 10008 = 1024 YB 10248 = 280 YiB (yobibyte) 280

1,024 Byte = 1 Kilobyte (KB)

1,024 Kilobyte (KB) = 1 Megabyte (MB)

1,073,741,824 Bytes = 1 Gigabyte (GB)

1 Gigabyte (GB) = 1,024 Megabyte (MB)

GB is the biggest, then MB and then KB and then Byte and bit is the smallest. 1 Byte is 8 bits.

To make it easier for people to understand, sometime people use power of 10 to represent them. like MB is 10^6, GB is 10^9, TeraByte is 10^12, etc...

GB is the biggest out of those 3. 1 bit = 2 binary digits (00, 01, 10, or 11) 1 byte = 8 bits 1 kilobyte (KB) = 1,024 bytes 1 megabyte (MB) = 1,024 kilobytes 1 gigabyte (GB) = 1,024 megabytes

1024 bytes = 1 kilobyte (kb)
1024 kb = 1 Megabyte (mb)
1024 mb = 1 Gigibyte (gb)
1024 gb = 1 terabyte

All data in computers is in 'bits'. Each bit is either a 1 or a 0. 8 bits make one byte. 1024 bytes make one kilobyte (KB). 1024 kilobytes make one megabyte (MB). 1024 megabytes make one gigabyte (GB). Also, for the sake of interest, 1024 gigabytes make 1 terabyte (TB). But to answer your question:

KB MB GB

KB MB GB

1,000 KB = 1 MB
1,000 MB = 1 GB

On your list, GB is the biggest.

Byte = 8 bits
KB (kilobyte) = 1024 bytes
MB (megabyte) = 1024 kilobytes
GB (gigabyte) = 1024 megabytes
TB (terabyte) = 1024 gigabytes
(not positive, but I think the next step is PB (picobytes) which is 1024 terabytes)

KB is 2^10 bytes, or 1,024 bytes
MB is 2 ^20 bytes, or 1,048,576 bytes
GB is 2^30 bytes
TB is 2^40 bytes

it refers to binary: where 2^0 = 1, 2^1 = 2, 2^2 = 4

e.g.

4 3210
0 0000 = 0

4 3210
0 0001 = 1

4 3210
0 0010 = 2

4 3210
0 0011 = 3

so 2^4 = 16 and

4 3210
1 0000 is = 16

etc.

another e.g.

your router's ip is 192.168.0.1

that's

1100 0000.1010 1000.0000 0000.0000 0001 in binary
