I think it has to do with the rules of English really.
example:
The universe is infinite is goes on for infinity.
To replace that with other words would be:
The universe is never ending it goes on forever.
I can't switch these to this:
The universe is infinity it goes on infinite.
That would be like saying:
The universe is forever it goes on never ending.
So we can see they each has its place and meaning associated with its place.

but in terms of eternity its infinite, but numbers are also infinite , cuz they never end
