They fear us using up a great deal of bandwidth for streaming music and videos, but I just want to be able to read something! Anything! It's all blocked! With as much down time as we have, you'd think they'd be more forgiving. Select news sites were purposely left open (so please, don't respond with any "You shouldn't be reading during work anyway" advice, as they condone it and understand that we're not busy all day), but the news, despite its name, does indeed get old.

::laughing:: And by the way, this in no way jeopardizes my job. The company couldn't be any more lax than they are already, we just kept having crashes because of so many people streaming news reports and stuff! Fret not, dear friend! (Though your genuine concern is appreciated!)

Sure, its your job.. I'm sure you read and signed the Co. user policy...
so goto http://www.google.com/language_tools and have google "translate" the site it is a proxy... or if you have the know how set up a ssl server at home with cygwin and connect using ssl the Co. may see DNS requests but that is it.

you people that moan and groan about not being able to get to sites at work need serious help. they did it for a reason so why risk your job. there i said it.

now for a solution...
laptop, usb cable, and a cell phone modem capable.

Use a proxy server. Try http://www.the-cloak.com/anonymous-surfing-home.html

just to see what one can do.
