The only system I have for Sony is a playstation 2 presently. I have yet to play any final fantasy games. Which of the final fantasy games should I start playing first? I do know that none of the games continue on the same story lines. Thanks for all the answers.

A lot of it just depends on if you are hung up on wanting great graphics or a great story line. SO far, 7 has to be one of the best storylines, but I have actually enjoyed the battle system presented in 12 which did away with the totally random monster encounters. You can now see them and mostly avoid them if you are low on life and trying to get somewhere safe quickly.Currently I have all the releases of FF from Playstation and PS2 and the Nintendo, Super Nintendo and gameboy releases as well. If you like a decent RPG then the FF genre is a good one to get into.

I recommend FFX. It's still my favorite Final Fantasy game because of the great storyline. But if you are more into gameplay than storyline, give FFXII a shot. I absolutely love the new battle system. Both are great games, enjoy!

honestly all the FF games for the PS2 sucked
I really suggest you buy a ps1 memory card and buy FF VII VIII and IX for some great fun.
But if you don't want to, you can buy FF X and XII. Although I really believe the FFs for the PS1 were the best ever...superior to the SNES and NES even!
