Take a minute and consider all the things that have changed in the last 100 years. How many of those changes were brought about by a relatively small number of people or even one person (crybaby) through the power of the courts and legislature, even though the majority of the public did not want any changes to be brought about. How many laws, court rulings etc. have there been that were in favor of the minority rather that the majority?

Nothing would be accomplished. Most people don't vote. Change will always occur because of the initiative and leadership of a few. Someone always needs to step forward and lead the apathetic, the uninformed, the lethargic, the lazy, and the malcontents. Our Democracy works. This is a great country as it is and it is with constant change ever seeking improvement.

You mean a pure (polyarchal) democracy rather than a democratic representative republic....

You would still have changes. And unless you turned the Constitution over to the people instead of the courts (along with taking the courts out of all criminal and civil matters), most of the major progressive changes would still have occurred.

There would be prayer in school, cities would be able to put the fish on the flags and such, high school valedictorians could mention God in their speeches without worry, you could have nativity scenes w/o frosty the snowman. And we would probably execute murderers. The list goes on. If majority ruled then maybe the unlawful would be punished and the unimportant, who think they are so important, would be just another fringe group rather than a power base.
