Most of them are, but I think it's because they are stuck in deadend jobs that get extremely boring. But I have actually encountered a couple that were actually nice. Must have been new to the profession...lol.

I have to say that I have met some that have been nice and some that have not been so nice. For some reason I always get the same guy when I go to a certain DMV and he is the nicest man I have ever encountered in that environment. So I have to say that maybe some of us end up seeing the rep after some jerk of a customer has too.

Doesn't matter what state, they are all the same. Rude uncaring junior high drop outs. That's why they work there in the first place. McDonalds wouldn't even hire them.

Consider DMV to be the employer of the truly unemployable.

1. Anyone who works for the government and is past their probationary period feels pretty safe and secure in their position. It practically takes an act of congress to fire one of them. So, they may not feel to anxious about how they interact with you, as there is no perceived consequence for it.
2. There is no incentive for being productive or pleasant...they get paid the same amount no matter what they act like...the union sees to it.
3. It's wrong to generalize, and not all are jerks, but point 1 & 2 should explain a lot of it.

No actually, when I was applying for my permit, there was ONE nice lady there, but she had just gotten off her lunch break, so she may have been just recharged. But its not just the DMV... most people everywhere are jerks sometimes.
