I collected stamps when I was in a kid in 1970-1974. I have a lot (100-200?) of mint condition blocks of 4 with the plate number attached from this period, these probably include the majority of commemorative stamps issued during this period. Are these worth anything, and how do I find out what they are worth? Or should I start using them for mailing letters? I also have what is likely a "typical" kids collection of used US and foriegn stamps. Is this likely to have any value?

As others have suggested, eBay is probably the best place to sell your collection, but be aware that most U.S. stamps after 1950 are basically worth their 'face value'.

I personally recommend you use them as postage when sending letters since they are still valid and forget about selling them.

You could upload pictures of your collection to an apraiser's site and find out the value for sure-- or, you could simply put in minimum bid accepted and advertise on Ebay. Good luck!
