This, in case you've forgotten, is America. People can call themselves whatever they want, sleep with whomever they choose to sleep with, and live the lifestyle they choose as long as they don't infringe the rights of another to do the same.
People are different and have different beliefs and priorities. Whether or not we approve of it is irrelevant.
It is not divisive to classify yourself. What IS divisive is insulting or demeaning people or groups of people simply because of their beliefs.

Please do NOT use PETA to gauge anything. I'm a volunteer with an animal rescue group and all the members detest PETA for it's idiotic behavior. Did you know PETA put down close to 80% of the animals it "rescued" a couple of years ago?
PETA is the liberal equivalent of the KKK, a fringe group that pretends to be mainstream even though the masses want no connection with them.

Well, other than the fact that you aren't any of these non-normative things, what's wrong with hyphenated Americans or people defining their sexual preferences more specifically? And in what way are vegansexuals or Americans who acknowledge their immigrant ancestry less patriotic?

I agree that that's a bit wierd, but I'm more amused that you asked a question about Americans, then provided a link to a group in New Zeland, and rounded it all off with 'United we Stand'.

Yes, there are alot of Christians out there who will not marry anyone but another Christian who believes exactly how they believe.
There are alot of Jews who will not marry anyone who is not Jew.
And, there are alot of muslims out there who will not marry anyone but Muslims.
Now let me ask you, is this really an issue? And, who really cares unless you are small minded and have nothing else in life.
