OK, here's my brief version on how to get in radio. Take it from one who started this way. If you want to try radio as a possible career choice, start hanging around a small station where you live. Be willing to be a gofer, or help file stuff, carry things around at station events, hand out bumper stickers - all for no pay (at first). After a while (this always happens eventually except in the biggest cities) someone will call in sick at the last minute and you'll get your chance. Many colleges and some high schools (especially magnet schools) have radio courses of study and there are private vocational schools like Columbia School of Broadcasting.

Once you have some experience on air, you'll have an opportunity to do voice-overs.

Only the biggest talents in radio and voice overs have agents and only after years of experience.

If you don't make it on-air, and still believe you have a good voice, radio sales is very reliant on your voice (and you'll make better money). Good luck.

Get an agent. Then get someone in the industry to professionally review your voice by making up a demo tape. An agent will tell you what to do on the tape and how to get it into the hands of the pros.
