I hate to break it to you, but you ARE going to have to brush better, the ortho can tell by your gum tissue, not just if your breath smells good or if your teeth are clean.
First thing, make sure you have a SOFT head toothbrush, that alone may make a big difference. Also when you brush, you don't have to brush hard, just brush around everything and take your time.
On days you are home: brush in the morning after you eat breakfast, and right before you go to bed. (the more often you do-eventually it won't hurt as bad) *Also try getting a sensitive teeth formulated toothpaste, perhaps that will help. Try to floss after you eat dinner or after you eat things like popcorn, and if you are going to be avoiding brushing while wearing braces. (I won't lie- this is always going to be uncomfortable especially on days after you get adjusted, you just get used to the routiene) Get some mouthwash, pour out a little less than a third of it, and then pour a third of water back in it. (or buy peroxyl - this will help heal cuts you may get inside your mouth from your braces) That is going to help with the overall health of your mouth while it is undergoing the barrage from your ortho.
Also, he is there to make your smile beautiful, and to ultimately help you. Don't be afraid to talk to him. If you are scared, tell him that- you may be surprised at how he responds to you. Ask questions. Understanding what he is doing will help you to not be so scared of the process. He can also hook you up (usually) with orthodontic wax - which is a wonderful thing if you ever have part of your braces that is rubbing on your cheek or your lip somewhere. (that stuff is worth it's weight in GOLD)
Now, as for the quick fix for tomorrow. It is going to taste NASTY, but, get some baking soda and your toothbrush. Get your brush wet, dab a tiney bit of toothpaste on it and then put some baking soda on it (sprinkle the entire head of the toothbrush) I am warning you, this part does not taste good - brush your teeth getting first around your gumline then around your brackets and then the opposite side of your teeth, and also don't forget the tops of your teeth (you will have to re-apply the baking soda) once you have brushed all the surfaces of your teeth, rinse off the toothbrush (do not rinse your mouth yet- SORRY) apply toothpaste like normal and brush regularly, rinse, then floss as well as you can, (almost done) brush one more time with toothpaste brushing mainly from gums outwards, rinse well. Your teeth should feel pretty clean, and people will wonder what on earth you have been doing in the bathroom for so long. DO NOT use baking soda like this on your teeth often, it is very harsh and will damage the enamel, this is intended as a EMERGENCY QUICK FIX ONLY!

dont worry it doesnt hurt! i got scared my first time when i was getting it tightened but it doesnt hurt at all! all they do is take off the wire and the braces(the color part) and then they ask you what color you want . thentthey put in the wire, and then the put in the color. and then tighten it. it really doesnt hurt at all. just be confident! just brush your teeth more often, even if you dont feel like it! it will pay off! then tomorrow, just brush your teeth really good for two minuutes before you leave and after all your meals. then when you get at the dentisit brush your teeth again right before you go to get them inspected lol. good luck!
hope i helped!

try the dental wash it kind of bubbles things out of your teeth, and don't eat popcorn! then brush really good and rinse really good right before...don't let the dentist intemadate you, your parents have paid him plenty of money for those braces.Tell him,I brush everyday,,don't know what else to do..chances are,,you need to get into the habit of brushing after EVERY meal or snack.Only you can not be scared ask him if it's suppose to hurt so bad?Tell him your scared to come here, cause it really hurts and your friends say their dentist doesn't hurt...maybe he'll be more gentle..but remember he's trying to make your teeth grow straight, and when you finally get them off,you will have the most beautiful straight teeth, and all your friends will be jealous of you...
and remember to BRUSH YOUR TEETH! lol

well the obvious thing is to brush really well right before you leave the house. take some pain killer, too, so it doesn't hurt quite so much. think about how gorgeous you're going to look when the braces come off. if you know what you're supposed to do and what the orthodontist will yell at you for not doing, just do it more often so he doesn't have a reason to yell. brush your teeth after EVERY meal even if no one will see you.

yeah braces can suck I had braces when I was in 5th through my 8th grade year. I had to have 4 teeth removed and i had two teeth at the top of my gums so my orthadontist had to put the wires up to my gums to pull my teeth doen but I have my teeth now.....But I advise you to brush your teeth and use mouth wash such as crest pro health. And continue to brush your teeth well. They say if you brush your teeth as long as one song and the chorus you have brushed your teeth well enough. Also brush your gums all the time and your tongue. Thats all you can do....IF you do this everyday you will see the end result

They always tell me to brush better, and I brush 4 times a day. You can take a pain reliever, like Tylenol or Aleve, to make the pain go away. Don't worry... you will have beautiful teeth in no time.

I just got mine off after 2 years so yeah it sux. I was deathly afraid of going there b/c i didn't want them find something horribly wrong. So then i just told myself that i can't be afraid of it b/c it's only going to help me feel and look better. Use mouthwash to right before you leave the house so then they smell clean and then make them think that you're brushing them all the time.
Reward yourself w/ ice cream afterwards, it fixes everything lol

Brush really well before you go. He's going to tell you to brush better anyway, they tell everyone that.
The more dilligent you are with your braces, the faster they will come off.

Brush your teeth, floss and use mouth wash before you go into the appointment.
And as not to be scared, just don't think about it and if it helps keep your eyes closed. I keep mine closed 'cause I don't like looking at my ortho, he's creepy looking.
