I would like to sell diaper cakes. But just thinking about the cost of all the items, including the diapers, I don't see how I could make a real profit. And where can you get baby stuff in bulk?

A warning about purchasing diapers from Costco or Sams - you have to purchase a membership, which has to be renewed yearly. It has been my experience that the cases of diapers they carry are no less expensive than the cases of diapers you can get from Babies R Us or Publix - in fact, the price for a case of Pampers Swaddlers size 1-2 at my local Costco is exactly the same as it is at Publix. When you add the cost of the membership to the cost of the diapers, you are really spending more $$ than you would at one of the other places I mentioned.

The way to make a profit selling diaper cakes is to create a line of cakes that can be made quickly. You might have the most beautiful diaper cakes on the market, but if you only have time to make 1 each day because they take 4 hours to build, you aren't going to make any $$. Offer cakes that are special and attractive, but that you can create quickly and easily so that you can make 5 - 10 per day, and you will be able to turn a profit.

I have a buddy who makes and sells diaper cakes, they do run kind of pricey, but diapers are expensive and the buyer needs to take that into consideration.. my buddy also does yard greetings, so maybe if you put together like a baby shower package and did all the decorations, a diaper cake and a few other things you could advertise in your local paper etc. As for buying diapers in bulk.. try costco, i dont know where to point ya there

I don't know if you could ever make money selling these cakes. Have you done a web search to see how many other people are doing the same thing? They are everywhere. You need to come up with a new and entirely different idea to make money doing crafts.
